COMBLAIN-LA-TOUR JAZZ FESTIVAL / 50th Anniversary Celebration

Saturday July 4th ( Independence Day )

Starting at 2:00 p.m. : come celebrate in Comblain ! The Fair combines a variety of events (animations, vespa-scooter area discovery rides, gastronomic gets together) to musical performances. Choose from trumpet concerts bringing you back to the Chet Baker era, piano concerts, singers, bebop and Big Band experiences…In the small tent you’ll enjoy the East Belgian Swing Band and that means jazz for everyone !
5:00 p.m. : in the big tent, the Romain Brizemur and Greg Houben Quartet and their guests come to life. Never a minute of boredom in Comblain ! The winners of the Young Talents Contest ( held on June 21) give a sample of their warm up techniques. Lots of musicians, young and old : Felix Simtaine and Robert Jeanne join Pascal Mohy. The “Troisfontaine” trio return to Comblain, so do Steve Houben and Philip Catherine. A celebration with tons of surprises !

Sunday July 5th

N(e)apoli-tan slices : a serving of boogie to wake up your neurons , a slice of blues to help you relax, a touch of classical music sprinkled with some jazz. The Renaud Patigny Quintet starts it off with some boogie. Discover the best Jazz Trio from Poland, Pink Freud, one of the best Polish jazz a lot of you will appreciate such as 100NKA. Feeling a little down ? Come and listen to the 6 musicians of T-Rogers following Pink Freud’s energetic appearance. Roland Tchakounté takes you back to the roots of blues. Wes Mackey , the man with the ‘hoarse” voice, alternates soft and wild rhythms . Make time for an appearance of the Greg Houben Trio with excerpts from their new album. A black and white presence : Fazil Say, a tremendous piano player who takes you to the very depth of jazz. And last but not least the Trio Grande will be followed by the legendary saxophone player Archie Shepp who will move you to heaven ( hopefully under a star filled sky). Monica Passos, the Diva from Brazil will be next in the limelight. The tropical warmth she radiates will take you…to the end of the night.
